stained

stained –
a bruise on the skin, a simple touch
hints at the remaining pain within

stained –
wine washed across the cloths of the table,
spidering, branching out across the threads

stained –
cheeks, salty water walks the bridge of your nose,
meeting his fingertips resting on your chin

stained –
glass, holding the divinities, myths, and stories,
casting shadows on lips shaping the sounds of hymns

stained –
floors, the footsteps and dust trespass on the
bottoms of soles that wandered these halls in the past
